I’ve had a few jobs where workplace culture slowly evolves over time and just “is what it is.” This intangible quality of the work environment shouldn’t be ignored; when workplace culture is intentionally shaped and molded, it can have a powerful impact on productivity, inter-office relationships and morale.

I’ve only worked at Klemchuk LLP for a short time, but I’ve already noticed that having a bit of fun, doing some team building and nurturing a sense of camaraderie are important to the workplace culture. This is something the leadership focuses on creating. It begins with the hiring process, involves every employee regardless of position, and ranges from celebrating birthdays and work anniversaries to planning more elaborate events, such as the Halloween 2016 trick-or-treat event.

Fall is a season ripe with opportunities to plan social events that allow for employees to get to know each other on a level that may not be possible during the daily routine. Be intentional and take advantage of these opportunities to create a better environment, because the alternative “is what it is,” and there’s nothing special about that kind of workplace culture.
